Flooding in Pakistan Effect on Education

The current flood and rain catastrophe has had a significant impact on the education sector. Floods have damaged or destroyed at least 25,993 schools across Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and KP, with data collection still underway. Furthermore, over 7,062 schools that were not destroyed have been converted into relief camps to give refuge to flood victims. The use of schools as temporary shelters for displaced people is disrupting schooling and the ongoing academic year and is expected to result in the loss of learning materials as well as further damage to education infrastructure, including WASH facilities, necessitating cleaning and renovation in the future.
